AMD HD 6970 Delayed?

I'm sure none of you want to hear this, but it seems there may be a problem with AMD's HD 6970 video card. An insider is reporting a shortage of a component from Texas Instruments may cause the HD 6970 to be delayed from its planned November 22nd launch, not the previously reported yield issues. The component from TI is the integrated driver-MOSFET (DrMOS) which was first used on the HD 6800 series. This DrMOS is brand new so little information is known about it, but a shortage of it would mean a delay for the 6970 and most likely the 6950 as well. An interesting item is that AMD has not sent the final BIOS to its launch partners, which could be an indication it knew of the DrMOS shortage and acted accordingly. AMD is set to reveal the final launch date by the end of the week so hopefully it can keep on track. Even if the card gets released on the 22nd, there will probably be a supply shortage. I suppose we will just have to wait and see if the 6970 can be launched soon, but if not, NVIDIA can reap the benefits of its new flagship product a little longer.
