No Trip for the Cayman Cards This Year?

With the GTX 580 officially being announced today, the next eagerly awaited news will come from AMD and its scheduled release of the HD 6970. Originally having planned to release it's "Cayman" GPU around November 22nd of this year, Taiwanese sources have reported that production has been delayed due to yield problems from the manufacturer, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The HD 6970 is reported to have 2GB of GDDR5 memory and a 256-bit controller, which competes with Nvidia's latest, the GTX 580, which sports only 1.5GB memory. It's difficult to tell right now if this is just heresay or not, but if it's true, it might be a cold winter this year without any new power hungry GPUs to warm up the house.
