Toshiba Unveils Extremely Small SSD

Category: Storage / Hard Drives
Posted: 07:05PM

Toshiba announced a new line of solid state drives today, a line that can count size as its distinguishing feature. The Blade X-gale series of SSD features a thickness of 2.2mm, 42% smaller than current mini-SATA and mSATA SSD modules. For reference, that is roughly 1/3 the thickness of current 2.5 inch drives. However, the drives will still be able to pack in up to 256GB, with smaller drives of 64GB and 128GB also available. The drives will have a SATA2 connector, with read and write speeds up to 220MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. The drives should be a great fit for the bevy of mobile devices in use today.
