Nintendo President Says No Price Cut is Forthcoming for the Wii

Nintendo may have suffered its first loss in nearly a decade, but that apparently isn't phasing its President and CEO Satoru Iwata. He went on record to state that no price cut will be forthcoming for the Wii console, even though sales are declining for it. Perhaps the new red console will help to boost sales, but as it stands currently the console costs $200 which is the same as an Xbox 360. Nintendo needs a way to compete with the Xbox and, to me at least, a price cut is the most logical step since the Xbox 360 can do more than the Wii. However, even though Iwata said no price cut is coming, the last time he said such a thing the Wii dropped in price five months later. So it may stay at $200 currently, but I bet we'll be seeing a price cut before long.
