Is Valve Trying to Send Microsoft a Message?

Today marks the release of the new DLC for Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, "The Sacrifice". In it, gamers play from the perspective of the original survivors, in the time before "The Passing" DLC. Xbox 360 gamers will have to dish out $7 for the DLC, while PC gamers, of course, get it for free. Just to rub salt in the wound, the price of Left 4 Dead 2 has been lowered to $6.79 on Steam. This price includes the full game and all DLC and is still cheaper than just the recent DLC on Xbox 360. Xbox gamers shouldn't take this up with Valve, as they want to give the updates away for free. Microsoft, however, sees a great chance to make a buck. This comes after the announcement that Portal 2 will be coming to the PS3 with full support for Steamworks.

It will continue to happen as long as people buy the DLC. Microsoft knows people will buy it, so why not make money off of it?

Yup and it will continue to spill over into c gaming look at Modern Warfare 2 $30 for what 5-6 maps. I remember when they used to add that stuff in in patches, and not call it DLC.

This is also why I just wait for the GOTY edition of anything Bethesda makes.
