Verizon Wireless has announced that a software glitch was behind roughly $90 million in wrongful charges. Consumers were being charged for data usage on phones without data plans after hitting a button on their phones. After seeing that it tried to connect to the internet, the consumers would stop the process. Verizon had told the FCC that it had stopped these charges, but will pay back all the money in the form of credit on your bill or refund checks for those no longer with Verizon. Most of the 15 million users affected will see either $2 or $6 in reimbursement, but some could even see more. An analyst at Validas advises that consumers look carefully over every phone bill they receive for suspicious charges.
