Another Apple product, the second generation Apple TV, has been jailbroken in little time. The new device is sparsely available, and many won't ship until mid October. The jailbreak is accomplished by using the SHAtter tool, developed by @pod2g. The tool targets the boot ROM and tricks the Apple TV into removing the iOS firmware image for a custom image from the Apple Dev Team. Users will be limited in how much they can do with this, as it only features 8GB of flash memory, which is also used for cache. Apple can't be happy about this, but the Library of Congress has stated that jailbreaking is legal and Apple will just have to deal with it.
