LaCie has just announced its newest product, the Wireless Space. The Wireless Space is a rather unique product in that it combines a NAS unit with a wireless router, so not only can you backup data to it but you can also use it to get online. The NAS portion comes in the form of either a 1TB or 2TB model while the wireless is handled by an 802.11b / g / n Wi-Fi access point/router. On the rear you will find three Ethernet ports to connect to computers and one Internet port to connect to a modem, plus two USB ports which should allow you to hook up even more storage space. The Wireless Space will work on both PCs and Macs, and will allow you to backup data wirelessly or wired as well as function as a uPNP/DLNA streamer. For Macs, the Wireless Space is fully compatible with Time Machine while PC users will get the Genie Timeline Software to schedule backups on their machines. The whole thing comes in a very sleek black casing so it should look pretty stylish in your home.

The LaCie Wireless Space should be available now in Europe while it will be available in the US in October. Pricing will be $229.99 for the 1TB model and $349.99 for the 2TB.

A bit expensive for a wireless router, and if either part of it's functionality breaks you either send it back to them to be fixed or you have to buy a new one.

Did you miss the whole part about it being a NAS unit with 1TB or 2TB of storage built right in?
