Well, it seems Verizon is serious about getting its LTE network established in quick order as it has just announced plans to get the LTE network up and running in 30 NFL cities by the end of the year. This means that 30 cities will be the beneficiary of Verizon's 4G network and will be able to surf the web on their phone or laptop using a 4G modem at fast speeds. Verizon is planning to upgrade each city's cell connection backhaul to Gigabit Ethernet which will provide the necessary bandwidth for 4G's 5-12Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up speed with 30-150ms of latency. Hopefully Verizon can pull it off in time for the NFL playoffs so the people in the NFL cities can still keep up with their team. Now, the NFL has 32 teams and Verizon is planning to roll this out in 30 NFL cities so one may think that two cities are being left off the list. However, I don't agree with that because two of the cities have two teams so in reality, there are only 30 NFL cities for the 32 NFL teams. Hopefully that is the case and a smaller city like Green Bay isn't left off the list, but some more clarification from Verizon will be needed. In any case, it seems 4G is starting to pick up steam.
