QNAP, leading manufacturer of NAS devices, has just announced a new revision to its Turbo NAS lineup. The new revision will include the new Intel Atom D525 dual-core processor running at 1.8GHz. The Turbo NAS products seeing the upgraded processor are the two-drive TS-259 Pro+, the four-drive TS-459 Pro+, the five-drive TS-559 Pro+, and the six-drive TS-659 Pro+. The Atom D525 chip, along with 1GB of RAM, will enable transfer speeds of up to 118MB/second while delivering low power consumption. Aside from the new processor, each NAS unit remains the same with support for 2.5" and 3.5" hard drives, version 3.3 of the QNAP NAS management software installed, built-in AES 256-bit encryption, and as many RAID configurations as you can possibly need. Pricing is still up in the air currently but I expect QNAP will reveal that information before long seeing as how these units are shipping this month.
