Last year, Microsoft and Yahoo announced that a deal had been reached to merge the search engines of both companies into one. Well, that part is now finalized as all Yahoo search results will be powered by Bing in the U.S. and Canada. Bing is Microsoft's search engine and will be used whenever you go to Yahoo and do a search. This will affect both computer and mobile versions but only in the U.S. and Canada so far. Microsoft announced that other regions will follow suit in the coming weeks and months. Appearance-wise nothing will change when you search via Yahoo except for the small bit of print saying "Powered by Bing" at the bottom of the page. If you recall, the move to merge the Microsoft and Yahoo search engines is to better combat Google though even with the merger, Microsoft will have anywhere between 16 and 28 percent of the market in the U.S. It still pales in comparison next to Google but every little bit helps.
