Overclockers Club Announces Mushkin 3DMark06 Contest

Category: OCC News

In case you missed out on our recent contest featuring a MSI Big Bang XPower motherboard as the main prize, Overclockers Club has announced yet another contest courtesy of our friends at Mushkin. Now, the goal is pretty easy - score as high as you can using the Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark. You can only post once in the scoring thread, but you can edit that post as many times as necessary before the end of the contest.

Here is what you have to do in order for your score to count:

Run 3DMark06 at default settings:
1. You must submit your score to 3DMark for it to be valid and post your validation link.
2. You must show a CPU-Z and GPU-Z screen shot along with your 3DMark score.
3. You must show the date and your forum user name in your screenshot as well.
4. List your system specs in your post below or above your screen shot or include it in your screenshot.

Here is how the prize break down is going to work:

Grand Prize - 2 X Mushkin 40GB SSD's. (These are under NDA but all I can tell you is they are very fast.)
2nd Prize - A set of Mushkin 6GB Ridgebacks or a 4GB set of Ridgebacks for AMD or P55 depending on the winning platform.
3rd Prize - Mushkin 800 Watt PSU - (Under NDA)
4th Prize - Mushkin 32GB USB flash drive
5th Prize - Mushkin 8GB USB flash drive

Winning scores will be broken down into ranks as follows, with the winners in each rank eligible for the corresponding prize:
Rank 1-3 - Grand Prize
Rank 4-6 - Second Prize
Rank 7-10 - Third Prize
Rank 11-15 - Fourth Prize
Rank 16-20 - Fifth Prize

That means the top 20 scores posted will be eligible for a prize. The contest is currently under way and ends on September 12th at 9pm Pacific time. Any questions or comments can be posted in the contest thread here. For scores only, post in the scoring thread. Good luck everyone!

It's too bad I have such a crappy computer right now. I would of been able to enter this contest...
RADEON on August 23, 2010 03:30PM
wow, so this contest is really only open to people with a lot of money and really nice systems. Really bad premise for a contest.

Let me make sure I understand here. You are upset that an enthusiast website is running a contest for enthusiasts?

Well if you would have done your research before stating something pretty stupid you would see that it doesn't take a lot of money to be in the top 20. http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=157559&st=0

I looked at that thread Bosco and I don't see your point. There are easily 20 people on the forums with $2000+ systems so they will win the contest. Simple as that, so the average user has no reason to even enter.
ClayMeow on August 23, 2010 06:48PM
Sadly, I agree.
Boinker on August 23, 2010 06:54PM
Well I share that feeling in a way, but I'm not going belly aching about it. I'm running dated stuff myself and I still intend to Push my system to see what it can do... (looks like around 19K :D)
Bosco on August 23, 2010 07:24PM
Well as the saying goes, you can't please everyone. @ Boinker thats the attitude I like to see, if people want to complain so be it, don't enter its your loss. 19K puts you in the area of the top 20 based on current numbers but its all going to depend on on who enters and who doesn't.
UT66 on August 26, 2010 09:21PM
fk, im 12K. lol
Boinker on August 23, 2010 08:38PM
Im looking for more.... Wait i see smoke... BAAAAAAAAAAHHH
BizaroStormy on August 23, 2010 09:25PM
I'm not "belly aching" personally, and think its great that you throw so many contests. I just think your method of choosing winners this time is flawed. I think if you want to do it based on scores then do it based on percentages. If you are in the top 20% of the scores you draw for first price, last 20% draws for last prize. I think that would be a slightly more reasonable way to distribute prizes, and still achieve your goal of motivating people to push their hardware.

I am sorry I think either some of you need glasses or just don't know how to read. I think you all need to go back and read everything again word for word.... none of you and I mean none of you are picking up any of the hints that are being dropped at all. There is nothing wrong with the way I did the contest you guys just don't know how to pick up on things lol.
ClayMeow on August 24, 2010 10:05AM
Unless other prizes are submitted, you have to be in the top 20 to be eligible for one of the five prizes. I'm not saying it should stop anyone from entering, but what am I misreading??
Waco on August 24, 2010 04:17PM
I'm pretty sure he's been hinting *very* strongly that if you enter you'll have a chance to win something regardless of score. :)
Boinker on August 24, 2010 09:28PM
Or some kind of participation prize (door prize)
Bosco on August 24, 2010 10:53AM
Thats one hint but you missed the other statement I made.
MercuryDoun on August 26, 2010 08:49PM
Im pretty sure half the people that make an entry will miss one of the requirements... It means if you have a "Low" score like me, there is still a chance! Lol, I dunno guys, i see what you mean by it possibly being unfair, but that doesnt change that fact that this gave me agood reason to push my OC's as far as i could and i had ALOT of fun doing it! Good luck everyone!
MercuryDoun on August 26, 2010 08:51PM
Im fairly new to the site, my name doesnt seem to be showing on my comment, sorry, any idea how to fix this? FYI my username is MercuryDoun

Is this competition limited to countries? Does it include South Africa?
Bosco on August 30, 2010 08:07PM
