Panasonic was the first company to tout the world's first portable Blu-ray player at CES this past year, but an $800 price tag leaves a lot to be desired. That is where RCA comes in with its portable Blu-ray player that will cost $350. It still is expensive but compared to the Panasonic version, its massively cheaper. The RCA BRC3108 is a 10 inch portable Blu-ray player that comes with a rechargeable battery, integrated stereo speakers, a headphone jack, 1080p HDMI output, and a bundled car/AC adapter. It also comes with a carrying bag and an attachment to allow it to be connected to a car's headrest so you can get it off your lap during a long car ride.

The RCA BRC3108 portable Blu-ray player will be available at Target stores and at Amazon.com. Now, Amazon.com lists it as $349.99 while Target has it for $299.99 so if you want to save some cash, you know where to go. It is still fairly expensive at either location, but compared to an $800 Panasonic unit I would rather save the extra cash and go with the RCA.

I don't see the point of Blu-Ray unless you have a screen that is huge. The problem here is that you'll be watching on itty bitty monitors anyways, so what's the point of a portable blu-ray? Watching 1080p video on an 8 inch screen wouldn't do you much good.

it's probably 720p, since 1080p would be just a waste

it's 1080p and it has great image on it 10" display - much better than portable DVD. The ability to see a movie on TV via HDMI is a great advantge - I can see it in the hotel now. Most of the hotels TV have extra HDMI input. Great value

The OUTPUT is 1080p...the screen is not.

I think you guys are missing the point of the product, IMO its more the ability to play your blue rays on the run, your gonna need a blue ray player regardless of the fact that 720p or whatever might not be fully utilized on a small screen. Cant play blue rays on your old dvd player.

I really don't see any market for this product, people that want to watch Blu-Ray movies want large, quality screens. You can't carry around huge monitors so there is no point in portable Blu-Ray

And what if all you own are blue ray dvd's, your gonna go out and buy the regular version too just so you can watch them on the airplane. THATS the market.

Does anyone own only blu-rays? I highly doubt it, nobody is just going to throw out all their older DVDs and I don't see the reason to pay $300 for a few hours of entertainment on a plain. Especially because the screen is so small the quality difference is mostly unnoticeable compared to upscaled DVDs.
