Enermax Completes Modu 87+ Line of PSUs with 800W and 900W Models

A good system build isn't complete without a quality power supply, which could be argued is the most important component (considering it is providing power for all the others). Fortunately there are plenty of good options to choose from when looking for the right PSU, so manufacturers often look to features such as high efficiency, quiet operation and modular cables to differentiate models from the competition. Enermax has just announced the launch of its 800W and 900W Modu 87+ power supplies, which aim to score highly on all three of those features. They are both 80+ Gold certified, which is the highest level of certification currently available for consumer PSUs (requiring 87% / 90% / 87% efficiency at 20% / 50% / 100% loading). Both also come with Enermax's patented 'Twister' fan that claims to provide silent cooling and a long liftetime of 100,000 hours MTBF, along with modular cables, including four 6+2-pin PCIe connectors for graphics card power (in addition to the two 6+2-pin hard wired connectors). You can see the ratings for the separate rails in the table below.

Model +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 +12V3 +12V4 -12V 5Vsb Peak Power Total Power
800W 24A 24A 30A 30A 30A 30A 0.5A 3A 880W 800W
120W 792W (66A) 6W 15W
900W 24A 24A 30A 30A 30A 30A 0.5A 3A 990W 900W
120W 900W (75A) 6W 15W

It seems there shouldn't be any problems running multiple high-end GPUs with either model, particularly the 900W, with the potential to deliver all of its rated power on the 12V rails. As for pricing and availability, the 800W unit should be stocked and ready to buy already (or very soon) in Europe (at around €175 / £175 it seems), with the 900W model to follow shortly. Newegg is currently listing the 800W model for $229.99 stateside with an ETA of August 3rd. I would imagine the 900W model will follow on a similar timetable to the European releases, but we'll let you know if we hear differently.
