Forget the Verizon iPhone, Latest Rumors Suggest T-Mobile iPhone
While many users dream of the iPhone hitting the Verizon network, the latest round of rumors suggest that the iPhone may actually be headed to T-Mobile. As is the case with most rumors, the "source" is anonymous and T-Mobile's press department has declined to say anything other than "T-Mobile does not comment on rumors." However, the source claims that the discussions between executives at Apple and T-Mobile are in "an advanced stage" and says that it is 80 percent likely to happen.
While T-Mobile and Apple's current US iPhone carrier AT&T operate GSM networks, it is unclear if the iPhone 4 would actually support T-Mobile's 3G network which operates on the 1700 MHz and 2100 MHz band. Apple's iPhone 4 specifications state the phone supports the 2100 band, however there is no mention of the 1700 MHz band. Some believe that Apple may have simply omitted support for the band from the technical documents.
AT&T's exclusive agreement with Apple is expected to end at some point this year and it is believed that we could see the iPhone on another network as soon as this fall. Which network that will be still remains anyone's guess. Which would you prefer: AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile? Let us know in the comments.
