Intel updated its processor price list yesterday, adding some new models and cutting the prices of others. The biggest addition is that of the non-Extreme Edition Core i7 970, a Gulftown part with six cores running at 3.2GHz. That comes in at a price of $885 (for 1Ku Tray Units), so you'll be seeing it pop up for around $899.99 at e-tailers such as Newegg, therefore knocking $100 off the entry price of Intel's six core parts (the 980X retains its $999 price tag). Other new additions include the Core i5 760, which takes the specs of the i5 750 and bumps the core speed from 2.66GHz up to 2.80GHz. That comes in at $205 in 1K quantities and is currently selling for $209.99 over at Newegg. The Core i7 870 gets a massive 48% price cut, with the 1K unit price dropping from $562 to $294 (it seems that this price cut may not be reflected at retailers yet). A low power i7 870S also gets an introduction at $351, though it also takes a frequency reduction over the regular i7 870 from 2.93GHz to 2.66GHz.
