When AMD introduced its Radeon HD 5000-series cards, it made a point of filling in all the price points to ensure it had all its bases covered. NVIDIA was late to the game with its Fermi-based GTX 400-series cards and it is now slowly back filling its product lineup and today announced the GTX 460 cards with the simultaneous release of offerings from several of its OEM partners. In a nutshell the GTX 460 comes in at the $200 price point to offer mid-range gaming performance for budget-conscious users. Based on the GF104 Fermi processor it comes equipped with 336 CUDA cores and 56 texture mapping units. The architecture of the GPU has been reorganized a bit as well compared to its bigger siblings. The card is being offered in 768MB ($199) and 1GB($229) versions.
