Sony has announced that it is increasing the speed of its Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo HX series. The name is a long one, but the cards come in capacities up to 32GB in size. Now, Sony is going to increase the speed to 30MB/second though it did not announce whether that is read or write. I believe it is a read speed since that just makes the most sense for the memory stick. With speeds like that, it easily beats out SD-based storage options so for anyone using a Sony device, it looks like you can access your saved data even faster than before.

The price of the Memory Stick Pro-HG Duo HX series is quite expensive, with the 8GB model starting at $59.99. A summer release window has been announced for the faster speed cards, though no word on how these will be differentiated from the slower Pro-HG Duo HX series was made.
