The HP Slate once had so much promise, but it appears as if that is no more. However, the acquisition of Palm by HP has opened the possibility of a WebOS based tablet. The rumored tablet, code-named Hurricane, may be available towards the end of the summer. No pricing details are currently available, but I think it would be similar to the iPad. WebOS is believed to be a better match for a tablet than the Windows 7 based Slate due to better multi touch support. The major problem facing the Hurricane in the battle with the iPad would be the applications. Much as Apple dominates the smartphone app market, it currently has the tablet market as well. WebOS has a number of big name developers on board, but it can't touch the nearly 200,000 applications possessed by Apple.
