Patriot Viper II Series Sector 5 DDR3 Now World's Fastest Memory

Patriot Memory today announced it has extended its lineup of enthusiast grade DDR3 memory products with the launch of its Viper II Series Sector 5 Edition Extreme Performance DDR3 memory for Intel P55 systems. The Viper II Series Sector 5 Edition modules are tested on P55 chipset systems using Intel Core i7 CPUs to make sure the modules deliver at 2500MHz at 9-11-9-27 timings. Designed for overclockers and enthusiasts looking to reach new heights in overclocking and benchmarking, each module is equipped with extruded aircraft-grade aluminum heat spreaders for maximum heat dissipation for improved stability and reliability during extreme overclocking conditions. These modules are being offered as a 4GB (2 x 2GB) kit. Along with the  2500MHz kit (part number PVV34G2500C9K), Patriot is also releasing kits at 2400MHz and 2133MHz with timings of 9-11-9-27 and 9-9-9-27 respectively as part of the Sector 5 family. There was no word on pricing or availability.

am I missing something or does this seem like a complete waste, I can understand if you're trying to reach 7GHz, but that is non-existent

Wow thats more than twice the speed of my current DDR2, and the timings are nice too! Makes me wonder how much these will cost.

Looked into it, the Sector 5 2000mhz is around 150 bucks. The 2400 will probably be around 250-300 for a 4gb kit.
