Intel has recently offered a new Atom processor, known as the Intel Atom D510 that features a clock speed of 1.66GHz. Sadly, consumers have been complaining left and right that the speed from its predecessor was about the same as the D510. Even though it has not been out for a while, a new rumor is being circulated on the new Atom offering, which will be known as the Atom D525. Supposedly, the new processor clock speed will be increased to 1.8GHz, though the Intel progress chart is showing the same 1.66GHz speed, so it is not sure yet nor confirmed what the actual number will be upon release. No matter what the speed however, the 13W TDP is planned to stay the same, which will provide consumers with the same battery life they already have with increased performance. No matter if the rumor about the Intel Atom D525 is true or not, DDR3 will be supported, which will also increase performance in machines that actually feature the newest memory specification. The ship date for the new processor should be sometime within the second quarter of this year.
