Xbox 360 to Get USB Mass Storage Support

Well, it seems that the Xbox 360 is set to get a new way to save games, DLC and the like. Hot on the heels of the rumored Xbox 360 Slim, the upcoming Spring 2010 firmware update will apparently add in USB mass storage support. That means that you can plug in your flash drives and portable hard drives to the 360 to save downloaded Arcade and Live games, DLC, game saves and possibly even installed disc-based games. Now, all of this new storage comes with a bit of a catch. The storage device you plug in must be over 1GB in size, have a system partition of 512MB, and all the data will occupy up to 16GB of the drive or the entire drive - depending on which is smaller. That 16GB is all you will be able to save, so even if you plug in a 320GB portable drive, all you can save to it will be the 16GB. It is kind of small but at least you will be able to save some things to it to take with you to a buddy’s house.
