Arctic Cooling has unveiled its latest VGA cooling offerings: the Accelero XTREME 5970 and Accelero XTREME 5870. Both of the new Accelero models are designed for their respective graphics card counterparts, the ATI Radeon HD 5970 and 5870.
Both models include three 92mm PWM fans which run at 900-2000 RPM, and produce 81CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) of airflow to cool even the most power-hungry video cards. The Accelero XTREME variants differ slightly to cater for the different cards. The Accelero XTREME 5870 features 5 heatpipes, 84 pins and a 250 watts cooling capacity, where as the 5970 model boasts 8 heatpipes and 119 fins to cool two GPUs. Both versions include pre-applied ARCTIC MX-2 thermal paste for better heat dissipation.
According to Arctic Cooling, the Accelero XTREME lowers the GPU temperature of the 5870 and 5970 by 36°C and 40°C respectively when compared to the stock cooler. Both the Accelero XTREME 5970 and 5870 are backed by a 6-year warranty. The Accelero XTREME 5970 will be available in May for US$76.95 and the Accelero XTREME 5870 will be available in April for US$67.95.
