DICE has revealed that it will launch the first map pack for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (BFBC2) on March 30, the same day of launch as the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map pack for Xbox 360. Although Activision has not officially announced the price for the Modern Warfare 2 map pack, it looks like it will cost around 800 Microsoft points. This is in comparison to a free map pack for BFBC2 VIP members. DICE has said that the free release of the map pack is to provide a fresh experience and proper value for money to the online community. A free release also avoids the problem of segregation between players who have or don't have the map pack. The map pack is unlocked using the VIP code included with all new copies of Battlefield: Bad Company. Second hand purchasers can also buy the pack for $15. I think it's good to see such a quick implementation of new, and free content by DICE, which is more than can be said for Infinity Ward.
