Traditionally the Opera Mini mobile browser has relied on Java to run which has limited the number of phones that the browser could be installed on. Today, that changes for users running Windows Mobile 5 or 6 based phones with the release of Opera Mini 5 beta, a native application that has been specifically optimized for Microsoft's mobile platform while still providing the same features as the older Java based versions of Opera Mini. Features include tabbed browsing, password manager, bookmarks, and speed dial.
Of course, the big benefit to Opera Mini is that it can dramatically speed up web surfing while lowering data traffic by using Opera's servers to retrieve and render web pages and then sending back a compressed version of the web page. Opera Mini 5 can compress pages by up to 90% of the original size.
