California based storage manufacturer Western Digital, today released its new My Passport Studio ultra-portable hard drive. The My Passport Studio drive is designed with Mac users and creative professionals in mind, featuring Apple TimeMachine compatibility and pre-formatting for Mac computers.

The My Passport Studio includes a dual USB 2.0 and FireWire 800 interface, 256-bit hardware-based encryption and a feature found on previous Western Digital products: the e-label. The innovative e-label is based on e-paper technology and provides the user with information about what is stored on the drive through a custom label, the space used and remaining on the drive, as well as if the password is enabled; even when the drive is off!

The My Passport Studio is bundled with WD SmartWare software which provides data retrieval tools, security and diagnostic options, automated backup of data and a visual display to show backup progress.

The My Passport Studio comes in 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities and is available from US$149.99 to USD$199.99, depending on size from the Western Digital Online Store. All drives are backed by a 3 year limited warranty.
