Social Networking Coming to Ubuntu

One of the new features in the upcoming release of Ubuntu, version 10.04, is called the Me Menu. This menu will integrate several different instant messaging and social networking sites into one window. Users will be able to post status updates to their Facebook and Twitter without even opening a browser. The instant messaging functionality had already been available using the Empathy IM client found in GNOME. The social networking will be provided by Gwibber, an open source micro blogging client. Gwibber has already been available for some time, but it should see a drastic increase in use with its inclusion in the official Ubuntu distribution. This definitely appears to be an interesting application, and I look forward to trying it out.
