If the ten different AMD ATI Radeon 5000-series graphics card models were pieces to a puzzle, once you had them all laid out and put together you might notice there was a piece missing. Between the HD 5770 and 5850, ATI has a gap in its product lineup. With the introduction of the HD 5830, AMD now has filled the gap in the $240-$250 price range and we finally get to look at some real boards instead of rumors and leaks that have been popping up online as of late. Like it's bigger brother, the HD 5830 comes with 2.15 billion transistors and GDDR5 memory clocked at 1000MHz. Interestingly, the HD 5830 has a core clock speed of 800MHz as opposed to 725MHz on the HD 5850. However, the HD 5830 has fewer stream processors at 1120, 56 texture units and 16 ROPs. If you look at the product specification chart included in the OCC review, you'll notice these specs put it squarely in between the HD 5770 and the HD 5850.
