Google Takes Stand Against China

In light of new cyber attacks against Google and several other tech companies originating from the Chinese mainland, Google has made an announcement. Google will end its censorship of search results through its Chinese website. The most recent attack resulted in the compromise of the e-mail accounts of several human rights activists focused on China. The Chinese government has very strict rules on internet access, and topics such as anti-government propaganda are forbidden. The end of censorship would open up new areas of the internet to Chinese citizens, but it is unclear if Google will even be allowed to continue operation in China. Google plans to meet with the Chinese government in the coming days and weeks to see if some sort of agreement can be reached.
