Razer and Sixense Partner on Motion Sensing Controls for Gaming
Razer and Sixense are collaborating on a new magnetic motion sensing technology to bring some of the same motion sensing technology found on consoles to PC gaming. The scientists and engineers at the two companies have been working on developing the precise one-to-one motion sensing controllers that make use of electromagnetic fields to track movement along all six axes. The absolute position of the controller can be tracked to within one millimeter. At CES 2010, Razer, Sixense and Valve joined up to demonstrate the new technology with the first person shooter game with Left 4 Dead 2.
“With this controller, Razer and Sixense have created the most immersive way to play our games,” said Chet Faliszek, team lead on Valve’s recent best-seller Left 4 Dead 2. “For us and for our customers, this release represents motion-enabled gaming that’s more integrated and visceral than any platform has so far achieved.”

Razer and Sixense are not currently disclosing availability or pricing but are encouraging game developers who want to port their games to the new motion sensing platform to contact them and also said the SDK is now available on Steam.
