Hardware Roundup: Intel Core i5 661 Edition

Category: CPU's
Posted: 05:13AM

There's nothing like the days leading up to CES to bring out the new product announcements. With CES 2010 opening on January 7, Intel today officially launched its new line of Westmere CPUs based on the Nehalem micro-architecture. The code name for the desktop market processors is Clarksdale and is based on Intel's 32nm High-k second generation manufacturing process for the processor with a 45nm High-k process used for the integrated graphics processor. This puts the processor core, graphics core and integrated memory controller all in one package. The Core i5-661 is a dual-core processor clocked at 3.33GHz with 256MB of L2 cache per core and 4MB of shared L3 cache. With Hyper-Threading technology you'll get support for four threads as well. Along with the Clarksdale desktop lineup, Intel is also debuting the Arrandale line of mobile processors. We have a healthy roundup of reviews from around the web so enjoy your reading today and look for more CES coverage here at OCC in the coming days.
