Before the announcement of the Android OS, it was rumored that Google was working on its own phone. That never panned out, but it looks like it is now. Google will be releasing an unlocked phone called the Nexus One, made by HTC. The phone operates on GSM technology so it can be used on T-Mobile and AT&T networks. Samples have already been given to employees and pictures have shown up on the web. It has been described as similar to the iPhone with a bigger screen and a scroll wheel. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon, feature an OLED display, and will be thinner than the iPhone. When it becomes available, consumers can get the phone directly from Google.

Ugh, no full keyboard. I can't wait until this touch-everything cell phone toy phase is over and we get back to real, productive smartphones. Productivity demands a physical QWERTY pad!!!

There will always be physical keyboard phones, but a vast majority of the smart phone market and other CEDs are moving buttonless.
