Firmware Update Brings Back TRIM for Intel SSDs

Intel originally enabled TRIM command functionality on its X25-M G2 drives back in October, with a firmware update that users discovered had an uncanny habit of bricking drives (not so fun). That led to Intel pulling the update from its site and going back to fix whatever errors were causing the problems. The freshly released 02HD firmware should enable TRIM support without any of the bugs present in the first attempt. As we would always recommend with updates like this (particularly with the case of previous errors), it may be prudent to wait for a few users to try out the new firmware and report back before jumping on it. One would hope Intel has made sure it is safe this time around though, so if you do feel inclined to take the plunge you can grab the necessary files and instructions here. Happy Trimming!
