Gamer Sues Blizzard over World of Warcraft

Anyone who has known someone addicted to WoW or another MMORPG can see where this gamer is coming from. However, based on his lawsuits against Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo it appears as if he is just trying to take advantage of the litigious nature of the United States. Erik Estavillo claims that the game has caused him unnecessary stress and he takes issue with several aspects of the game. Cited in the lawsuit were the monthly subscription fee, resurrection process, and the suicide of an EverQuest player in 2001. He is seeking $1 million in damages and wants Blizzard to remedy all complaints brought about in the suit.

What a POS. If I was a Blizzard rep with nothing to lose, I'd offer to pay for some cheap therapy and tell him to get over it.

Doesn't the cheese burger bill apply here. Oh I should sue Pepsi Cola because I got a cavity from drinking Mtn Dew. Or maybe I should sue Smith and Wesson because some asshole shot the windows out of my truck. Stupid lazy fucker.

+1, this is the same deal as McDonald's getting sued for having unhealthy food. But I don't see how it's logical for anyone to win these types of lawsuits, isn't it up to them to discern what's healthy or not? It's not like I can go buy some cocaine, overdose, and sue the person who sold it to me (while it is illegal to sell, I don't think you'd get the money).

I wonder what's disturbing about the "resurrection process"... and just don't pay the subscription fee if you don't like the game! I agree with Bosco though, something tells me this idiot will win.

He wont win because if you read the story he has filed similar suits agains Sony Microsoft and Nintendo and they got thrown out of court.

some people clearly have money to burn. doesn't the loser usually pay the legal costs of the other party? or does that not apply if the case is thrown out?

you kids are so quick to bust peoples balls. i hope he wins solely based on the fact that they destroyed the game like they destroyed diablo 2. $15 a month * players = they can afford to lose a stupid law suit. id file one myself but im too lazy to open a ticket and wait 6 hours for someone to respond.

Blizzard having plenty of money has nothing to do with the fact that this guy can simply quit WoW.

Are you kidding? What right do you have to sue someone because they came out with a product that you don't like? Grow the hell up. Whether they can afford the lawsuit is one thing, but suing them just to sue is ridiculous. Your other comment about them destroying diablo 2: what? Blizzard didn't destroy WOW or diablo 2. If you lived in reality and saw the big picture, then you'd see that it is the people that play the game that destroyed it (people like you). Blizzard has PTR (public test realms) where they let the gamers try out and offer their suggestions on patches before they go into effect. Next time, before you speak about busting someone's balls, know what you're talking about. This guy is obviously an idiot looking to get rich quick.

And again...a perfect example why our court system is messed up. The fact that this guy was even allowed to file a suit such as this is quite ridiculous. I personally hope the judge throws the case out of court, sends the guy to psych therapy, and threatens contempt of court if the guy files a suit such as this ever again in his life.

That lawsuit has a lot more merit than this, even though I think it's still pretty dumb. Besides, I thought someone already did that.

the thing with this lawsuit that i'm getting annoyed on is that no one is forcing him to play the game. it's his choice, if he don't like the game because it has a monthly cost and is according to him to slow then he can just simply go buy another game! it would be another thing if he was forced to play the game and pay the monthly fee. but in this case he can simply uninstall the game, freeze his account and just go buy CS or something.
