To both extreme gamers and overclockers, G.Skill has been a reference brand either by their high quality memory or by their great SSD's. Now, G.Skill has proved once again that they are one of the top names in the enthusiast market by launching the fastest CL7 DDR3 memory modules at the moment. While 2200MHz DDR3 memory is nothing new, DDR3 memory at 2200MHz 7-10-10-28 with 1.65 working voltage is impressive, making these modules some of the fastest in the world. The only available kit as from now is a dual-channel 4GB (2GBx2), especially aimed for i7 860 and 870 users. The modules will also feature a brand new heatspreader and will be shipped with the G.Skill Turbulence memory fan to be used for providing cooler memory and improving overclocking capabilities.

Could you use those on an i7 920 board?

Yes. But it's optimized for the 860 and 870, so there would be a larger performance boost for those two processors.

It's not optimized for any processor specifically...it's just optimized to meet that 1.65v target.

I suppose you could buy two kits for tri channel... or three kits to use all of the sticks, lol
ScapeGoat on November 15, 2009 06:45AM
That would be the only way, at least for now since there are still only dual-channel kits.

Dual channel works just fine on X58 boards.. just because it has three channels doesn't mean you have to use all three, and in most cases, it provides no real benefit =P

But this is OCC so overkill doesn't matter :P
