Massive Number of Modern Warfare 2 Copies Pre-ordered

Retailer GameStop has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has broken the record for number of game pre-orders. The game will be released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC a week from today. Gamers who pre-order the game will be entered into a drawing for several great prizes, including a snowmobile and a Hummer H2. The game had been in the news recently with some publicity that wasn't quite as good after Infinity Ward announced that no dedicated servers would be available on PC. Many gamers planned to boycott the game and some even started a petition, but it clearly wasn't enough to get this game off track.

Well, you didn't take into account that we weren't boycotting the consoles, and if you take a look at PC pre-orders, the number is measly compared to Dragon Age: Origins or Left 4 Dead 2.

Yep. I won't buy it till someone makes a private server for it or it gets fixed by the developers.

There's no stopping the immeasurable number of casual gamers. I was just trying to bring some attention to it so hopefully no one finds out after they spend $60.

I won't get it for PC due to the lack of private servers, but I still might get it for PS3 :P. On the PC I tend to game more as a community, and like to play with the same group of people. On consoles I just like to hop in for a few minutes to frag so I don't mind.

Amazing.. VAC will stop cheats and pirates.. yet Xbox360 version is already in pirated circulaiton as at last week and being used online for multiplayer.. well done.. shows PC players the true value of anti piracy...
