Inside Ben Heck's Workshop

If you're a fan of creative modding, particularly games consoles shoehorned into portable formats, then you'll probably already know who Ben Heck is. Including the recent addition of the PS3 slim laptop to his list of mods, his work is always impressively well thought out. With all of that, you might expect his workshop to be equally impressive, but no, it is relatively understated spare bedroom at his house in Madison, WI. Engadget paid a visit to have a poke around and to ask Ben a few questions about how he got into modding at what is essentially a professional level. Starting out with a portable Atari mod, it is nice to hear that Ben follows the common engineering principle of fiddling with things until they break. Including a look at a Bill Paxton (yes, really!) themed pinball machine project he is working on, the video is certainly worth a look. Ben's advice? Don't be afraid to take things apart. Oh, and make things that look cool.
