Pirate Bay Founders Broke, Don't Have to Pay Fine

The Pirate Bay founders, who were ordered to pay a substantial fine for their roles in copyright infringement, have been ruled to be broke by the government operated debt collector. The founders had stated after the ruling that they didn't intend to pay any fine, so this point may be irrelevant. However, it does look like the movie and record companies won't be getting any money after all. One of the defendants apparently has plenty of money, but it is in Switzerland and therefore the Swedish government can't help. Since the trial, the future of the Pirate Bay has remained uncertain as Global Gaming Foundry had announced plans to purchase the site, but recent speculation is that the company doesn't have the money.
