Patriot Memory is getting ready for the launch of the Core i7 and Core i5 processors based on the P55 chipset/LGA1156 platform. The new processors will use a dual channel memory controller and Patriot has announced its Sector 5 gaming series of memory kits specifically engineered for the dual-channel architecture. The modules will come in two flavors starting with the Viper II extreme latency modules in 1333-, 1600-, 1800- and 2000MHz speeds. In addition, Patriot has elected to bundle the Futuremark 3DMark Advantage benchmarking software with the Sector 5 Viper II kits in speeds of 1333MHz and higher. The second half of the Sector 5 kits are the "G" Series enhanced latency modules being offered in speeds of 1333MHz and 1600MHz for slightly less performance but at a more attractive price. There are a total of six different products in the series and all are 4GB (2 x 2GB) kits. Patriot has not yet released any detailed specifications on actual timings for the kits nor was any pricing information available.

Soooo...it's another "extreme" memory kit just like all the others that adds a very small performance improvement for a massive investment. Forgive me if I don't jizz in my pants over it. :P
