After Corsair originally released its Dominator GT modules they experienced an abnormally high failure rate attributed to the Elpida Hyper memory chips used to construct the modules. Corsair pulled the units from the market until the issues could be identified and resolved. Today Corsair announced it is re-introducing the Dominator GT series memory modules after working closely with the enthusiast community and Elpida to identify the problems.

According to John Beekley, VP of Applications Engineering at Corsair, “Our lab was able to correlate the failures to specific batches of early material, we worked very closely with Elpida to determine the root cause of the issue and to define the associated corrective actions to take.  We are confident that every GT module using the Elpida Hyper IC Corsair ships from today will meet our strict quality and reliability standard.”

The Dominator GT modules come with a black dual-path heat exchange (DHX+) heatsink with red removable cooling fins. The patent-pending heatsink cools both sides of the memory ICs and the PCB allowing for increased stability and greater overclocking. Each kit comes with the Corsair Airflow fan and the fins can be removed, allowing for the use of Corsair's Hydro Series H30 water block or the Ice Series T30 thermoelectric cooler. The modules are be re-introduced under new part numbers and will be available from resellers or directly from Corsair withing one to two weeks.
