Barnes & Noble Takes Another Stab at E-books

Barnes & Noble announced plans to get back in the e-book game, taking aim at a market currently dominated by Amazon and the Kindle. The first foray into this area by Barnes was made in 2000, with experimentation from Stephen King. However, the lack of portability, which was eventually solved by the Kindle, prevented the format from gaining mainstream appeal. Among the platforms for the new e-book venture will be the iPhone, iPod Touch, and several models of Blackberries. In addition, Barnes & Noble has an exclusive partnership with Plastic Logic, developer of the upcoming eReader.
