Rock has announced two new additions to its Xtreme range of gaming latops with the Xtreme 790 and Xtreme 840. The specifications of these laptops places them in the desktop replacement class. They should perform remarkably well for gaming, but are not very portable. Both models sport up to 1.5TB of data storage via three 500GB 7,200RPM drives. They also support up to 6GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory, enough to satisfy anyone but the most demanding user. A Blu-ray drive is also available for both models. Both models include 4 USB 2.0 ports, WiFi a/b/g/n, 7-in-1 card reader, and 3 year warranty. Differences occur in which CPUs are available and the graphics choices. The Xtreme 790 has a 17-inch full-HD screen and runs an Intel Core i7 processor. It also only has the option for a single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M 1GB graphics card. The Xtreme 840 comes with an 18-inch full-HD screen and supports Core 2 Duos and Core 2 Quads for processors. However, the Xtreme 840 has the ability to run dual NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M 1GB graphics processors in SLI. The Xtreme 790 starts at $3,259 and the single GPU Xtreme 840 starts at $2,770 while the dual GPU Xtreme 840 starts at $3,748.
