Government Wastes Millions of Dollars on Printing
It should come as no surprise that the federal government and its employees have wasteful printing habits, as this is a problem faced by many businesses. A report published by Lexmark revealed that the government wastes nearly $440 million per year on unnecessary printing. Some of the nearly $1.3 billion spent on printing is obviously necessary, where signatures or a paper trail are required. Most employees surveyed revealed that they try to monitor printing habits, while even more say they probably print more than necessary. At a time when the federal government is trying to stress and even force the “go green” philosophy, maybe it should lead by example.
