Super Talent announced today a new line of IDE flash Disk modules (FDM) aimed at bringing the performance and durability of solid state drives to the embedded market. The new line consists of NAND flash modules compatible with either the 40- or 44-pin IDE interface and are offered with either horizontal or vertical connectors. Designed for harsh environments unsuitable for traditional hard drives, the modules can withstand greater ranges of temperature variations and levels of dust and vibration. The single-level cell models offer sequential read speeds up to 80 MB/sec and sequential write speeds up to 60 MB/sec. There is also a multi-level cell series that can achieve write speeds of 40 MB/sec. Both series are offered in 8, 16 and 32-GB capacities and are ideal for industrial embedded applications but are also useful to enthusiasts working with nano- and pico-ITX boards to build a Linux-based storage appliance or that car computer you always wanted.
