At the recent Venture Capital Investing Conference, much of the talk was about the dropping returns and the decrease in venture capital firms. With less money to go around, there will be less startups that make it and become successful companies. There will be less of a chance that the next Microsoft will get adequate funding, even if only slightly. The groups that provide the capital clearly miss the start of the millennium when the investments made led to great returns. However, while some found the outlook bleak, others looked on the bright side. The less money to go around, the smarter the money will be invested. More research will be done and more thought will be given before the money is handed out, which could in turn lead to better returns.
