The Consumer Electronics Association has released final attendance numbers for the CES 2009 show. The results were audited by Veris, an independent firm, and show 113,085 attended the show this year (just remember 11 of those attendees were representing OCC!). VERIS only counts attendees one time, even though the show stretches over a four-day period. In spite of all the gloomy predictions about attendance and companies bailing out this year, CES still managed a strong showing in light of the economic situation. CEA produces the show each year and they do keep a fairly tight rein over who can attend, so in spite of the drop from the 141,000+ who showed up in 2008, 46% of the trade professionals who attended this year were senior-level executives which matches last year's numbers. So while the attendance numbers were down, the CEA is doing a good job of keeping the show relevant and reaching the right market audience. It's not too early to think about CES 2010 happening January 7-10 next year.
