OCZ first showed its Z-Drive off back at CeBit in March. Back then we were looking at a 1TB a PCIe connected device that combined multiple SSDs with an on-board RAID controller with read and write speeds potentially in the range of 600MB/s and 500MB/s respectively. OCZ also apparently thought the device would retail between $1500 and $2000 when released. If the versions that recently showed up on Amazon are anything to go by then that figure may actually be for a smaller 250GB model, which the site is listing at $1,561. Larger 500GB and 1TB models are listed at $2,450 and $3,368, though all models are currently showing shipping times between 1 and 3 months. Hopefully that means there is still plenty of time for prices to fall before they are actually set loose.
