Apple Deliver iPhone 3G to Your Door

Anyone who wishes to purchase an iPhone 3G may now have it shipped directly from Apple to their front door. Previously, customers who want to purchase an iPhone online could only partially complete the transaction. Customers could order the iPhone and reserve it at a local Apple Store, but had to go to the Apple Store in person to pick up the phone. Apple's new policy allows customers to enter billing information, review eligibility and pricing, and select an AT&T service plan. Once those steps are complete, the customer may reserve the iPhone at a local Apple Store or have it delivered. However, the footnotes imply that the iPhone's delivered to customer's front doors must still be activated at an Apple Store. That seems to defeat the entire purpose of having the iPhone delivered to your door.
