You Must Have an iPhone to Register for this Course

At the Univesity of Missouri, journalism students in specific classes have been told that they need an iPhone or an iPod to complete their courses. They would be required so that students can listen to audio recordings of the lectures, delivered in podcast form. While other portable music players would probably do the trick just fine, the university seems to have close ties with Apple. The school is realistic in the sense that they will not be enforcing this requirement, but students requiring financial assistance can fill out a few forms to recieve bursaries for their new 'study tool'. Personally, I don't see why the university is complicating things with this statement, but then again, I'm not the kind of guy that would listen to a recorded lecture I've already attended.
