Amazon Announces 9.7-inch Kindle DX
Personally, when I go to read a book or newspaper, it is generally in the traditional paper-back or broadsheet format (am I behind the times? Maybe). However, if you prefer your reading material in digital format, along with all the benefits that brings, then you may be interested in Amazon's latest iteration of its Kindle device. It wasn't all that long ago that it unveiled the Kindle 2 and the latest Kindle DX takes the same basic format, but expands the screen to a more generous 9.7 inches with an auto-rotate feature. It also packs in a PDF reader, which should be a popular addition considering the wide spread nature of the file-format. Storage increases in capacity to 3.3GB, which Amazon claims is enough for up 3,500 books, periodicals and documents. The $489 price point may however be a sticking point for some when the device ships this summer. Engadget has coverage from the Kindle event, as well as a hands-on with a demo Kindle DX.
